Saturday, 6th March 2010 - Photo #65

Guess where we went this afternoon?

Derby -v- Watford, the score was 2-0 and Carl says the game was pretty mediocre. It was freezing cold but the sky was lovely. This is straight out of the camera just cropped a bit of the foreground out.

Took this on the way back to the car as dslr's are not allowed in the ground - be warned.

"I want to play with Pixie"

This is Zac's favourite spot when he is outside, leaning over the wall staring at the rabbit, Pixie. We're not sure what he would do to Pixie if he did get over to her and into the run, I daren't risk it!

He would quite happily stand there and stare at her for hours.

Couldn't get a simpler background without getting underneath him and looking up at the sky but he wouldn't look at me and all I got was his chin!!

"Funky Car Art"

Saw this in a magazine a few years ago when I first got into photography and had a go with our old car, unfortunately, I didn't understand depth of field then so thought I would give it another go.

I've used a close up filter and darken the shadows to give it a bit more of a trendy feel (hopefully!)

I think it's a good way to remember a car without it being the usual "auto trader" photo.

Wednesday, 3rd March 2010 - Photo #62

Been out for tea tonight for our friend Phil's birthday so time has been abit tight. This is a photo I have had in mind but wasn't sure how to approach it. It is of my bedside lamp and is one of my favourite things ever. It's Marilyn Monroe again and I have had it for years. The difficulty I had was that the plug was taken off so that the wire could be ran down inside the drawers next to my bed and I couldn't get the lamp out without taking the plug off. So after a bit of moving it around I decided on this one. I played with shutter speeds to see if I could darken out the background but different speeds gave pretty much the same results so I have brought up the shadows in Picasa and gave it some focal black and white to bring out the picture. (By the way the dog wasn't hers it was the photographers - quick Marilyn fact for you!!)

Went for a walk with Zac through the woods this afternoon and as any wildlife scarpers as soon as he thunders up to them had to make do with trees! I like the steps as they lead you through the picture (see I do listen at camera club).
I made this one black and white to show the contrast of the different bark on the tree in the foreground.

Monday, 1st March 2010 - Photo #60

Went into town with Mum this afternoon and took my camera in case an opportunity arose. As it was quite a nice day we walked down to the River Gardens at the back of the Council House. There were loads of sea gulls there and they are quite brave if they think you have some bread!

This one couldn't make up his/her mind whether to fly off or wait and see if I had something to eat in my pocket. I've warmed it slightly as the photo had quite a blue cast on it.

Sunday, 28th February 2010 - Photo #59

Meet Percy! He lives on the girls wooden house/potting shed at Mum and Dad's and when it is windy he goes like the clappers!!

My camera really struggled to auto-focus on him as he keeps rotating and his wings spin round but managed to get a couple of close shots using my close-up filter.

I wonder if I could enter him in the Natural History category?
