Sunday, 4th July 2010 - Photo #185

"Walk with the Camera"

Today my friend Jamie and I have been on a "Walk with the Camera" workshop with Valerie Dalling (who is a Derby photographic artist) which was around Darley Abbey. It was run by Illuminate 2010, a project that Derby City Council are holding to celebrate the life of Florence Nightingale. It is the centenary of her death this year and as she was born in Derbyshire Derby City Council are holding a series of events to mark this occasion. Florence's great-grandfather was George Evans, whose family founded the mills at Darley Abbey, hence the walk around today.

We started off at a studio in one of the mills and then set off armed with cameras. Darley Abbey village is gorgeous and there was lots to take, I came in second highest with 243 photos (whoops). After a lovely lunch we whittled down our photos and everybody got to see each others pictures and talk about them.

Here are my favourites.
